Joel + Jalissa | Overton Park and Downtown Memphis Engagement Photos!

Can’t believe I never shared this shoot on the blog. I’m gearing up for some engagement sessions this fall, and looking through Joel and Jalissas’ has me stoked to meet new couples, and capture all the personality, story, and love. That is probably the best part of these shoots to me. The outfits, locations, and so much of what I capture is authentic to each couple. I’m not trying to copy paste a certain aesthetic on every set of clients, because I want people to see their photos and almost forget there is a photographer involved! I want it to be SO “them”. I loved that Jeol and Jalissa brought their sport jerseys from Uganda with their last names printed on the back, and as we were driving downtown, I spotted a mechanic shop painted black, red, and yellow. I pulled over, and they followed behind me. Its an act of trust when you hear your photographer say “I have an idea!” They took the leap of faith, and complied to jumping around and kissing by a busy street with honking cars all in front of a Mechanic shop! It was so dang worth it. Only a month later, I was driving down Poplar Ave, and the garages of that building were all painted white! So freakin glad we stopped. I love finding locations only that couple will be photographed at. It makes it exciting for me, but it also makes each shoot stand out as much as the couple does.
