Garfield Conservatory | Chicago Bucket List

We woke up, bundled up, and headed to the bus station. First stop: Bang Bang Pie. It was truly an incredible experience. These biscuits were out of control. The entire trip, Bre and I did what I like to call “split-split”…aka each person gets half of the other person’s meal. So that way you get to try more, and it’s less pressure to order. I think this is the way it should always be and I’m so glad Bre was down. We ordered the “Farmers” and the “Gravy.” We barely finished, it was so filling and yummy.

ALSO!! I got to meet a friend, Savannah. Savannah Faith is an incredible photographer who is flown around the country to capture weddings. She is based in Virginia and we have wanted to meet in person for what feels like years, but always just missed each other. She saw on my Instagram stories I was in Chicago and it just so happened that she had just arrived in the Windy City, too. THIS, my friends, is why I stay on social media. I make so many friends and connect with the most inspiring and wonderful humans. We got to meet and hang out all afternoon! Thank you, Savannah, you were so wonderful to have along for the day.

After we all drowned in biscuits, gravy, and jam, we headed to the station. Garfield Conservatory has been on my Chicago bucket list for years. It did not disappoint! Fern room, dessert room, old palm trees, and exotic flowers; the place was grown all the way to the roof. We, of course, had our own mini shoots inside. I was so inspired.

I can only imagine how refreshing it would be to visit this conservatory in the midst of a cold Chicago winter. I highly recommend! Also! Contrary to some locals, the conservatory is technically free, with a suggested donation. So that was pretty awesome. We actually happened to show up on a kids halloween festival day. It was adorable. Little wolves, fairies, and firefighters running around.

If you can’t tell, this was one of the best trips I’ve had. More coming, y’all!!!
